Richard Nixon was a staunch anticommunist. He was fervently anti China through the Vietnam war. He was the last person you would expect to go to China and “open the door”.
Obama needs to do the same thing with business and the American economy. My suggestion would be to freeze the Bush tax cuts for 1 year. In the intervening time period, select some key republican and democratic leaders that are savvy on the issues of taxes and spending to redevelop our tax and spending system. The goal needs to be to cut taxes, promote business, cut regulations that hinder business. In other words let the republicans have their way. Mit Romney would be a good leader for this.
As a trade off, the republicans would help fix the healthcare bill such that it delivers what is truly needed; universal healthcare.
We can have both a country that is friendly to business and promotes economic growth, and a country that has healthcare for all, a viable education system, a growing new infrastructure and a strong defense.
I call on Obama to to “pull a Nixon”
