Shopping with the Duchess

This is me on a fishing trip. A fashion statement of some kind.

I took the Duchess to buy waders the other day. To make a fashion statement of another kind.

We are going on a fishing trip next week… and while I doubt she will fish (she thinks its cruel) ..she might… and it could rain all day and might want to keep dry. The trip is floating through the Black Canyon on the Gunnison River. Sitting there slogging wet would not portend a return trip…

Waders are those things fly fishermen wear in the water. They keep you dry. You have to buy boots too.

I have been shopping for ski’s and ski boots with the Duchess so I know a little bit of what to expect. They have to match; the boots need to be comfortable…the colors need to work with the ski outfits.


Its not much different when buying fishing stuff. The waders that fit were the wrong color… we ended up in a kids wader (she is not a large person) that was the right color. In fact there were only two colors to choose from, thankfully one of them was acceptable. The boots that were on sale did not match the waders so we ended up with the new style boots. They do look good, but as the salesperson said, you cant see them under water anyway. Anyway... Jimmy Choo does not sell wading boots.

We also bought a rain jacket.

In the end… I thought she looked great… but then she always does. But I don’t think you will find her wearing the stuff out for dinner.
