Women and Men

Why are women that sleep around sluts and men who sleep around studs? The question was asked of me by a young white male, not necessarily looking for an answer, but as a social commentary on college life. I think it is a positive sign that he was making the comment, and, making a judgment on the college male psychic. In fact he concluded that both were sluts. It’s a negative commentary on society in general that the question even exists
Women are different from men. Right? Physically for sure; mentally, I think. Generally, men do some things better than women; generally women do some things better than men. I don’t think I will try to make a list of those things. What men and women are good at generally, have been fairly consistent over time. I think that in many cultures and many times, the differences between women and men have been respected. I think that today many people respect our differences. Not all men and women fit the mold though.
I think many men are afraid of women. They may fear loosing their job. The may fear loosing a much sought after promotion. They may fear that the thing they thought they were really good at, a women is better. How would it be if the things we thought were manly, men’s domains, that women were really better. We tend to fear what we don’t understand.
I think that the things that we thought were gender specific are getting fewer. We thought that fighting in the army was a man’s job. I am not so sure. We thought that being a truck driver was a man’s job. I am not so sure of that either. I think we need to think of individuals, not sexes. Who might be the next president is more about the individual that the sex of the contender. Whether someone is a good truck driver is more about the skills fo driving a truck that the sex of the driver. Women and men that sleep around are both sluts.
